Je suis arrivée

I've made it to France after 11 hours of travelling!

Obligatory farewell photo

Had a very early start this morning in order to catch my Eurostar to Avignon TGV (which was then delayed once I got to St Pancras - so far, so good). After the train journey via Lyon with my homemade Brie and cranberry sandwiches (getting in to French mode already) and keeping myself entertained with the book Tash gave me for my birthday - Dirty French! - I had a quick change onto another train to Avignon Centre where I managed to find the bus station.

En route to Vaison!

I'm going to be living and working in a town called Vaison-la-Romaine, a lovely place but, as I am discovering, doesn't have the best transport links. 2 buses and 3 hours later (it takes 45 minutes by car) I arrived in Vaison where the lovely Nicole from La Mairie met me to take me to my apartment.

The apartment is HUGE:

La chambre
Le salon

La cuisine

I can't quite believe how much room I have here! It's also located in one of the schools I'll be working in which means the location is perfect. Only thing is that it will probably be very lonely so I'm looking at a couple of other options. Unfortunately due to the nature of the town it's not very common to do house shares and I know Avignon will be too far to commute from after trying out those buses! However, I think I might have already found a lovely local family to move in with... will keep you updated!
